This week, the import price of rebar Steel in Southeast Asia has risen compared with last week, but the overall transaction is still light. On the 21st, the import price of rebar in Southeast Asia was estimated at US$650/ton CFR, an increase of US$10/ton from last week.
According to market news, a leading steel mill in South China recently made a deal with Hong Kong at a price of US$660/ton CFR, which brought some liquidity to the market. For later price adjustments, news from steel mills indicated that it might be difficult to make deals after price increases for sizes and specifications.
Regional export quotations are mostly stable, exporters are not active in quotations, and buyers are mostly on the sidelines. Recently, the export quotation of Malaysian rebar steel to Singapore is 670 US dollars / ton DAP, and the export price of a steel mill in East China is 660 US dollars / ton FOB. However, the demand in Singapore remains weak. Local buyers said that the price is higher than expected, and the rebar inventory is still sufficient. The downstream demand is average, and the import purchase is flat.
